SEO Fix — Meta Titles & Descriptions (2026-03-11)
Overview
During the weekly sync on 2026-03-11, Mark identified and resolved the root cause of Fenwell U's poor Google search result appearance. The site had no meta titles or meta descriptions on any page, causing Google to auto-generate low-quality snippet text from raw page content. Mark added proper meta titles and descriptions to every page, and the corrected results were visible in Google search immediately after.
This issue was surfaced by a note from Peter (client contact) flagging the bad search result appearance.
Problem
- Symptom: Google search results for "Fenwell U" displayed auto-generated, inaccurate, or unwanted snippet text.
- Root Cause: Zero meta titles and zero meta descriptions existed across the entire site. No alt text was present on images either.
- Why it matters: When Google finds no meta tags, it scrapes the page body and constructs its own title and description — often pulling irrelevant or unflattering content.
Resolution
Mark added meta titles and meta descriptions to every page on the Fenwell U site. After the fix, searching "Fenwell U" in Google returned the correct, curated description:
"Curated financial planning and wealth management. At Fenwell, work to make, for the people who want to feel comfortable about their money and financial decisions, we combine…"
This confirms Google is now reading and using the supplied meta content rather than auto-generating it.
