ROI Calculator Tool — Aviary Case Study
Overview
A custom ROI calculator web app built for [1] in response to a client request for a sales enablement tool. The app was conceived collaboratively — Sebastian used AI to develop the calculator concepts, and Mark built the full application in approximately one day. It serves as a proof-of-concept for Asymmetric's ability to deliver high-value, bespoke tools rapidly using AI-assisted development.
The live app is hosted at a dedicated domain (AviaryCaculators.com) and is intended for use in sales presentations and, eventually, as a public-facing page on the Aviary website.
Background
Aaron (Aviary) requested the tool directly, describing a need to demonstrate ROI to prospects during sales presentations and eventually publish a version on their website. The request was routed through Sebastian, who used AI to generate four distinct calculator concepts before Mark built the application.

Calculator Types
The app includes four calculators, each targeting a specific business value metric:
- Recovery Rate Calculator — measures value recovered through Aviary's services
- Labor Cost Calculator — quantifies labor savings
- Dormant Account Calculator — estimates revenue potential from reactivated accounts

Each calculator accepts user inputs, computes results on demand, and displays output inline.
Features
- Multi-calculator navigation — users click between calculator types from a single interface
- Branded domain — hosted independently at a dedicated URL for easy sharing
- Export / Report generation — in-progress feature allowing users to:
- Enter a company name and industry
- Upload a company logo
- Generate a customized, exportable PDF-style report
- Call-to-action / lead capture form — planned addition at the bottom of the app
- "Visit Aviary" button — links out to the main Aviary website
- Brand theming — built in React with an attempt to mirror Aviary's brand colors and fonts; minor icon/color inconsistencies noted as polish items
Development Notes
- Built in React; brand theming applied via an appearance/theme module
- AI was used to scaffold the app; brand assets (logos, colors, fonts) should be provided upfront to avoid style drift during generation
- Known issue: some icon colors were inconsistent due to incomplete brand guidance during the initial build pass — resolved by providing a complete brand guide folder at project start on future builds
- Polish items remain (colors, icons) but the core functionality is complete and demo-ready
Strategic Value
This project is a template for a new AI-driven service offering. Key observations from the 2026-01-30 leadership call:
- Speed advantage: tools like this can be built in hours, but should be scoped and delivered over days or weeks to set appropriate client expectations
- Differentiation: few marketing agencies can deliver custom interactive tools; this creates a meaningful competitive moat
