BluePoint CallRail Setup — 800 Number Porting & Routing
Overview
BluePoint ATM uses CallRail for call tracking across multiple phone numbers. The primary outstanding configuration item is porting the existing 800 number into CallRail and establishing its routing rules. This article documents the current setup, the porting plan, and related number acquisition tasks.
Current State
- All active BluePoint phone numbers are already CallRail tracking numbers.
- The main number previously displayed on the website (
540-335-2848) is Wade's cell, configured as a forwarding destination. - The 800 number was temporarily removed from active use while porting is resolved — it had previously routed to an external answering service that BluePoint discontinued.
- Separate tracking numbers exist for the Eastern Office and Western Office to distinguish inbound call sources. These are intentionally retained for geographic attribution.
- Call activity is visible in the CallRail dashboard under the BluePoint account, including source attribution (e.g., Google Business, Eastern Office website) and call recordings.
800 Number Porting Plan
Once the 800 number is ported into CallRail, it will become a standard tracked number (not a pool number) and will be configured with a forwarding chain:
- Primary: Route to Wade
- Fallback: Roll to Mike if Wade doesn't answer
- Additional fallback: Further escalation as needed
Wade confirmed: forward to Wade first, then Mike, for the initial configuration.
The 800 number will replace the current placeholder on the website's primary contact display. The Eastern and Western office numbers remain unchanged.
Prerequisite: BluePoint must provide a copy of the phone bill showing the 800 number to complete the port.
NY & NJ Number Acquisition
As part of the [1], BluePoint needs dedicated local numbers for New York and New Jersey to support geo-targeted advertising and state page tracking.
Action items:
- Wade to purchase NY and NJ CallRail numbers
- Melissa to configure routing and publish the 800 number once ported
Tracking Configuration Notes
- CallRail is integrated with the BluePoint website to attribute inbound calls to traffic sources.
- The dashboard allows listening to call recordings and reviewing abandoned calls.
- Pool numbers handle dynamic number insertion for web traffic; the 800 number will be a static tracked number.
- Direct mail pieces use unique QR codes and personalized URLs (e.g.,
bluepointatm.com/stadiums-and-arenas/[Name]) for recipient-level tracking — these are separate from CallRail but complement the overall attribution picture.
