VCEDC Image Asset Management
Image replacement strategy and asset tracking for the [1] website redesign. This article documents which images need to change, why, and who is responsible for providing replacements.
Overview
During the October 2025 website review, several images across the site were flagged for replacement — either because they were duplicates, featured outdated content, raised political concerns (e.g., favoring one bank over another), or simply needed a refresh. Kathy Schmitz (VCEDC) is the primary source for new photography; Melissa Cusumano (Asymmetric) is responsible for routing assets to the developer.

Key Decisions
Donate Page — No Bank Imagery
The existing bank check photo must be replaced. VCEDC receives donations from multiple banks in Vilas County and cannot appear to favor one institution. Kathy is considering a township photo as a neutral alternative. She has relevant photos in personal files not yet uploaded to the shared Google Drive.
Resources Page — Placeholder Acceptable
The resources banner image was removed and replaced with a solid green placeholder. This is acceptable temporarily. Kathy will source a replacement image when available; there is no hard deadline.
Contact Page — New Headshot
Kathy planned a photo shoot on the dock on October 9 (4 PM). Once received, Melissa will route to the developer.
Events Page — "Upcoming and Recent Events"
Not strictly an image decision, but related: the Events page will display both upcoming and recent events so the page has content even when no future events are scheduled. This affects how event imagery is used and labeled.
Seasonal Photography
The site currently skews toward fall imagery. A December launch is anticipated, so Kathy will select a few winter photos to swap in before go-live. She will send selections to Melissa/Tracy with placement suggestions.
Video — Business Expansion Page
A video featuring Kathy's late horse (Jimmy) is currently on the Business Expansion page. Kathy is weighing whether to replace it, noting that Jimmy represents the Land O'Lakes area and geographic representation across the county matters politically. Decision deferred; Kathy will review the video library she previously shared with Melissa and Tracy.
Workflow Notes
- Melissa holds all new images until confirmed; she has not yet pushed updated assets to the developer.
- About Us page is on hold pending layout decisions — Melissa will not send it to the developer until the copy and structure are finalized.
- All other pages with resolved assets are ready to be sent to the developer for building.
- Kathy is on vacation the week following this meeting. She will review outstanding items the week she returns.
