Participant & Facilitator Guide Planning

Overview

As the SOAR course content nears completion, the next phase involves designing a participant guide and facilitator guide to wrap the learning experience into a coherent, structured package. This planning effort was first surfaced in the [1] engagement during the December 30, 2025 progress review with Gus Donelson.

The guide is intended to be lightweight — an agenda-style document rather than a deep instructional manual — providing learners and facilitators with clear direction on how to move through the course.

Purpose

The participant/facilitator guide serves two primary functions:

  1. Learner navigation — Guide new hires through the sequence of SOAR modules, video content, and manager check-ins in a logical, structured order.
  2. Facilitator support — Define what activities look like in practice, particularly for the [2], which involves more complex, interactive elements.

"I don't need a crazy deep participant guide, but just really a guideline of okay, do these videos, meet with your manager. It's maybe more of an agenda slash participant guide."
— Gus Donelson, 2025-12-30

Scope

Current Status

As of 2025-12-30, this effort is in the "noodling" phase — no structure has been drafted yet. It was flagged as a key next step once the bulk of content creation is complete. The participant/facilitator guide is considered the final layer that completes the SOAR course package.

Gus described it as "putting the icing on the cake" (or "bowing the present") once all modules are finalized.
