ZoomInfo Credits — Use-It-or-Lose-It Policy

Overview

ZoomInfo download credits operate on a strict monthly reset cycle. Credits that are not used within the calendar month are forfeited — they do not roll over, and they cannot be reclaimed retroactively. This policy applies both to the agency's master account and to any client sub-allocations managed within it.

This came up explicitly during a review of the Bluepoint account, where the client believed they were owed credits from a prior month and requested additional allocation.

How the Credit System Works

The One-Time Gift Clarification

In October, Bluepoint's allocation was manually increased from 1,000 to 1,400 credits as a one-time courtesy. This was not a change to the standard allocation and was not documented as a recurring benefit. The client subsequently interpreted the higher number as their baseline and believed they were running a deficit when November reset to 1,000.

Key point to communicate to clients: Any allocation above the standard monthly amount is a one-time gift, not a new baseline. The standard allocation resets each month regardless of prior-month usage.

Credit Management Strategy

To avoid confusion and make the most of the monthly allocation:

  1. Use credits consistently throughout the month. Waiting until month-end risks losing unused credits.
  2. Treat the allocation as a hard cap. If more credits are needed, the client must pay for additional blocks — the agency cannot absorb the cost.
  3. Monitor usage mid-month. The ZoomInfo admin view shows monthly credits used, bulk credits used, company views, and contact views for the current period.
  4. Educate clients upfront that credits are use-it-or-lose-it and that the agency's subscription is shared — overconsumption by one client affects others.

Bluepoint Account Status (as of November 2025)

Metric Value
Monthly allocation 1,000 credits
Credits used (November) 278
Credits remaining 722
Prior month allocation 1,400 (one-time gift)
