Homepage & Location Pages Strategy — Overhead Door

Overview

The homepage is the primary ranking page for Overhead Door Madison and the next major SEO focus following the successful 24/7 service page update. The strategy centers on three interconnected local SEO improvements: expanding homepage copy with an FAQ section, adding a location pages section to the homepage, and placing the company address in the site footer. Together these changes are intended to strengthen local relevance signals and increase AI citation coverage.

This approach directly replicates the playbook proven on the 24/7 service page, which yielded +15% page views and +8 new AI citations after an FAQ was added. See [1] for the broader pattern.

Strategy Components

1. Homepage Copy Expansion

Goal: Strengthen the homepage as the site's top-ranking page by increasing content depth and keyword density.

Approach:
- Rewrite and expand existing homepage copy to incorporate target keywords tracked in Ahrefs
- Add an FAQ section at the bottom of the page to attract AI citations from Google AI Overviews, ChatGPT, and Gemini
- Mirror the structure that drove results on the 24/7 service page

Rationale: The homepage is currently one of the strongest ranking pages on the site. Expanding copy and adding structured FAQ content gives AI models a clear, citable source and improves organic ranking signals simultaneously.

Process: Sebastian drafts copy and sends to Jeff and John for review before implementation.

2. Location Pages Section on Homepage

Goal: Surface location-specific pages directly from the homepage to improve local SEO coverage across the Madison service area.

Approach:
- Add a dedicated section on the homepage linking to all location pages
- Location pages themselves to be published by Tuesday following the March 6 meeting
- Internal linking from the homepage passes authority to location pages and signals geographic relevance to search engines

Status as of 2026-03-06: Location pages built and linked internally; homepage section pending implementation.

Goal: Signal local presence to search engines and users by displaying the company's physical address site-wide.

Approach:
- Add the company address to the global footer so it appears on every page
- Consistent NAP (Name, Address, Phone) data across the website and Google Business Profile strengthens local pack rankings

Background: Jeff flagged the missing address during the March 6 review. Sebastian confirmed it was included in earlier location page notes but had not been implemented. Committed to completing by EOD Monday, March 9.
