Citrus America Competitor Landing Pages Strategy
Overview
As of the December 2024 monthly call, Citrus America has approved two competitor-specific PPC landing pages (ZoomX Version A and Zumo) and greenlit a third generic "Commercial Juicer" page. The strategy uses competitor brand searches as a top-of-funnel entry point, landing visitors on pages that acknowledge the competitor and then make the case for Citrus America's products.

Approved Pages
ZoomX (Version A)
- Status: Approved for launch.
- Concept: Visitor searches for ZoomX, lands on a page featuring a ZoomX machine image, then sees a comparison making the case for Citrus America. Brian described this as a "bait and switch in a good way."
- Hero image: A photo Brian took in a Russian airport of a ZoomX-style machine (Cyrillic signage visible in background). Approved and in use.
- PPC strategy: Being developed by Gilbert (PPC specialist). Brian specifically requested a thought-through strategy rather than simply updating existing campaigns.
- Note: ZoomX Version B was reviewed but not approved for launch — it had outstanding issues and was instead repurposed as the template for the generic Commercial Juicer page.
Zumo
- Status: Approved for launch, pending two edits.
- Required edits before launch:
1. Replace the hero image — it currently shows a Tricasa machine, which is incorrect.
2. Shorten the copy — the current version is too lengthy. - Link: To be included in meeting follow-up notes for Brian and Miriam's post-call review session.
New Concept: Generic "Commercial Juicer" PPC Page
Purpose
Capture broad, non-brand-specific PPC traffic for queries like:
- "commercial juicer"
- "industrial juicer"
- General commercial citrus equipment searches
Template
Use ZoomX Version B as the base. This version already has a cleaner structure and a "Commercial Citrus Juicers" framing that translates well to a generic page.
Content Changes Required
- Swap the ZoomX-specific comparison table for a generic version — label the competitor column "Competitor" rather than naming a specific brand.
- Add the updated pricing/hygiene/certifications table (the newer format used in the Zumo and ZoomX Version B pages).
- Remove or replace any brand-specific imagery.
- Keep copy minimal — Melissa specifically wants a clean, low-copy design to test performance against the more copy-heavy competitor pages.
Design Goal
Test whether a cleaner, less copy-heavy landing page converts as well as or better than the more detailed competitor-specific pages. Results will inform future landing page design decisions.
Open Question
Whether to show both ZoomX and Zumo side-by-side in the comparison chart, or use a generic "Other Juicers" label. Brian wanted to think this through further — leaning toward generic for this page, with a potential future blog post that names competitors directly (see [2] if created).
Broader Strategy Notes
The "Bait and Switch" Model
The competitor page strategy is intentional: users searching for a competitor brand land on a page that acknowledges what they were looking for, then presents a direct comparison. Brian and the team view this as a legitimate and effective top-of-funnel tactic.
Competitor Blog Concept (Adjacent Idea)
Brian referenced a "swimming pool blog" concept — a content format where you openly discuss competitors, acknowledge their strengths, and then make the case for your product including transparent pricing. This was floated as a future SEO blog, not a PPC page. High SEO potential noted. Not yet assigned or scheduled.
Keyword Integration
Mark and Gilbert's PPC analysis surfaced new keywords that will also feed into future blog topics — the competitor page work and content strategy are being developed in parallel. See [1] for broader content pipeline context.
