AHS Event Calendar Page Updates
Updates to the AHS website Event Calendar page discussed during the [1] November 2025 marketing review. The core change simplifies the user journey by linking calendar events directly to registration forms rather than routing through an intermediate event detail page.
Overview
The existing Event Calendar page required users to click an event, land on an intermediate event detail page, and then locate and click a separate registration link. The redesign eliminates that middle step: clicking an event on the calendar takes the user directly to the corresponding Google registration form.
This change was driven by Gina's preference to avoid having registrations spread across multiple places and to reduce friction for attendees.
Key Changes
Direct Registration Links
- Each event on the calendar links directly to its Google Form registration page
- Eliminates the intermediate event detail page for standard training events
- Exception: events with dedicated landing pages (e.g., the NARI Expo in January 2026) can link to those pages instead of a bare Google Form
Calendar Display Defaults
- Default calendar view set to start on Monday (rather than Sunday)
- Past events to display an "Event has passed" indicator rather than disappearing or showing a broken registration link
Add to Calendar Functionality
- Feature request: add "Add to Calendar" buttons to Google registration forms after sign-up
- Sebastian to research whether this is feasible within Google Forms; implement if possible
Gina's Ability to Add Events
- Sebastian to confirm with the developer the cost and process for giving Gina direct access to add events to the calendar herself
- Goal: reduce turnaround time for getting new training dates published
Workflow
- Sebastian updates the staging site with the above changes
- Staging link sent to Gina for review and approval before pushing to production
