Quarra Landing Page Video Update
Overview
During the [1] marketing call, Lauren (Quarra) proposed replacing the homepage photo slideshow with a looping video of the CNC robots in action. Asymmetric confirmed this is technically feasible and agreed to move forward. Video specs and prioritization guidance are pending from Asymmetric before Quarra can supply footage.
This change is intended to increase engagement on the landing page by showcasing the manufacturing process dynamically rather than through static project photography.
Current State
The homepage hero currently displays a rotating slideshow of finished project photos. While these effectively showcase final work quality, Lauren noted she was "sick of seeing those images" and felt video would be more compelling to new visitors.
Proposed Change
Replace the photo slideshow with a looping video (or sequence of short video clips) featuring:
- CNC robots actively working on stone
- Final-touch footage on near-complete projects (to preserve the "finished work" messaging the current photos convey)
The video will loop automatically. Because visitors are unlikely to watch through a long clip, the most important footage should appear first.
Technical Requirements
Asymmetric (Karly) is responsible for providing video specifications to Lauren, including:
- Resolution — recommended resolution for web hero video
- Dimensions — aspect ratio / pixel dimensions for the homepage hero area
- Timing — recommended clip length(s)
Status: Specs not yet sent as of the meeting date. Karly noted this as an action item.
Video Prioritization
Lauren will select and prioritize video clips for the loop. Karly's guidance:
- Lead with the most impactful footage — visitors will likely only see the first few seconds
- Include final-touch / near-complete project footage — maintains the "showcase finished work" intent of the current slideshow
- Multiple clips can be stitched — a combined loop of ~45 seconds is acceptable, but priority order matters
Lauren is responsible for selecting clips and sending them to Asymmetric in priority order once specs are received.
Related Work
- New project photos were also being added to the site around the same time (target: live by Monday / Feb 2 at latest) — see the broader [1] account context
- Testimonial video/written content (to be discussed with Jim) remains a separate, not-yet-actioned item
