VCEDC Events Page Restructure

Overview

During the November 2025 content and design finalization session, the team identified that the existing Events page lacked clear separation between upcoming and past events, making it difficult for visitors to quickly find registration opportunities. The page was redesigned with two distinct sections and differentiated calls to action.

Problem

The original Events page displayed all events in a single undifferentiated list. Visitors had no immediate visual signal distinguishing events they could register for from events that had already occurred. Kathy Schmitz noted:

"How is it clear, though, if I'm coming to this, that I can just right away go to an upcoming one? Because otherwise, I've got to go through each one of these."

Decision

Split the Events page into two clearly labeled sections:

Section Heading CTA Button
Future events Upcoming Events Register
Past events Past Events Read More

The "Past Events" section is retained intentionally — it signals organizational activity and gives visitors a sense of what they may have missed, encouraging future registration.
