# Didion Milling — Payment & Expansion — 2025-10-31

## Overview

Discussed during the [[wiki/meetings/2025-10-31-weekly-eow-call-melissa|2025-10-31 End-of-Week Call]]. Two open issues with Didion Milling: an outstanding invoice and a technically complex client request to switch payment processors. Both situations create an opening for a larger retainer conversation.

---

## Outstanding Payment

The second payment for the **Raysa & Masa project** (also referenced as the Masa and Arepa project) has not been received. Mark flagged this as part of a broader ~$40k overdue invoice review.

**Action:** Melissa to follow up directly with Didion re: Raysa & Masa phase 2 payment. Mark also assigned to follow up.

---

## Client Request: Square → PayPal Migration

Didion Milling has asked to remove Square and replace it with PayPal across their site.

### Technical Complication

Their current setup uses **EasyPay integrated with Square** to handle payments across approximately **64 individual payment forms** (event registrations, golf outings, etc.). EasyPay is incompatible with PayPal, meaning a simple swap is not possible.

- Each form would need to be rebuilt or its payment destination updated
- The immediate priority is a subset of forms for an upcoming golf event (next summer)
- Eshak flagged the scope; Melissa is documenting the full breakdown to send to the client

### Mark's Architectural Note

Mark observed that the root issue is structural: having payment logic embedded in 64 separate forms is fragile. Best practice would be a single checkout page that all forms route to — making any future payment processor change a one-line update rather than a site-wide rebuild.

> "One checkout page, not 64 checkout pages. And if they decide they want to change their payment system, then you just change the payment system and you may have to update the link on the button, but that's it."

This may be worth raising with the client as a longer-term recommendation.

## Upsell Opportunity

Didion Milling is currently undercontracted relative to the work being done. Two expansion opportunities were discussed:

| Opportunity | Detail |
|---|---|
| Retainer increase | Propose $5k+ monthly retainer |
| Website hosting | Asymmetric to host their site |

**Action:** Melissa to email Didion re: retainer increase and website hosting proposal.
