# Microsoft Clarity Setup — Shopify Integration Fix

## Overview

During the April 5 weekly call, the team resolved a blocking issue that had prevented Microsoft Clarity from activating on PaperTube's Shopify store. The root cause was a pending approval email that had been routed to the shared `team@` account rather than a personal inbox — causing the integration to stall silently from the Clarity dashboard side.

## The Problem

Karly had provided the Clarity tracking code to Jeff (PaperTube's developer), who installed it via the Shopify plugin. After installation, Shopify displayed:

> *"Project link request is sent to Clarity Project ID — pending project admin's approval."*

Neither Karly nor Jeff could locate where to approve the request inside the Clarity interface, as no approval prompt appeared when logged in as a standard user.

## Root Cause

The approval request email was sent to the `team@asymmetric.app` shared account, not to a personal email. Because no one was monitoring that inbox for this specific request, the approval sat pending indefinitely.

## Resolution

Mark logged into the `team@` account, located the approval email, and confirmed the Shopify integration. The Clarity dashboard then showed **"Successfully Installed"** for the PaperTube project.

> *"It says successfully installed."* — Mark Hope

Data population takes 2–3 days after installation per Clarity's own guidance.

## Follow-Up Actions

- **Parag invited as user:** Mark added `parag@papertube.co` as a team member on the PaperTube Clarity project so he can view session data directly. A previously sent invite to a generic `@papertube.co` address was cancelled.
- **Aviary next:** Karly will replicate this process for [[wiki/clients/current/aviary/index|Aviary]]'s Webflow site, working with eShock. She now knows to check the `team@` inbox for the approval email after the developer installs the plugin.

## Key Lesson — Repeatable Process

When setting up Microsoft Clarity via a third-party platform plugin (Shopify, Webflow, etc.):

1. Create the project in Clarity under the `team@` account.
2. Provide the **Project ID** to the developer — no separate code snippet needed for Shopify.
3. Developer installs the Clarity plugin and enters the Project ID.
4. **Check the `team@` inbox** for an approval/confirmation email and click through it.
5. Clarity will confirm installation; data appears within 2–3 days.
6. Invite the client as a team member via Settings → Team inside the Clarity project.
