# AHS Contractor Pages

## Overview

Phase 3 of the Madison Asbestos dev roadmap focuses on creating contractor-targeted content pages designed to establish AHS as a trusted referral partner for tradespeople (plumbers, general contractors, etc.) who encounter asbestos or mold in the course of their work. This initiative was originally discussed in-person in November 2025 and is now queued for development after location pages (Phase 1) and service page FAQ updates (Phase 2) are complete.

## Strategic Goal

Position Madison Asbestos as the go-to referral source for contractors who discover hazardous materials on job sites. Rather than targeting homeowners directly, these pages answer the practical questions a contractor would search for — making AHS the authoritative answer and a natural referral recommendation.

> "We talked about this next year kind of focusing on contractors as referral sources… just establishing you guys as kind of a trust partner there."
> — Sebastian Gant, 2026-02-24 meeting

## Content Approach

Pages are structured around common contractor questions, formatted as direct Q&A so that both search engines and AI models can easily surface AHS as the source.

**Example question types:**
- "What do I do if I find mold in a pipe?"
- "What should a plumber do if they discover asbestos insulation?"
- "Who do I call when I find hazardous material during a renovation?"

Each page answers the question authoritatively, then frames AHS as the trusted specialist to refer clients to.

## AI Citation Strategy

The FAQ/Q&A format is intentional. Structured questions with direct answers are the primary mechanism for earning AI citations (ChatGPT, Google AI, etc.). As Karly Oykhman noted in the meeting:

> "AI is kind of lazy, so if there's specifically a question somebody's asking, and we've structured it to where that's a question on our FAQs, where there's a direct answer, that's what it's going to use as its main source."

AHS currently has **17 Google AI citations** and **0 ChatGPT citations**. Contractor pages, alongside service page FAQ updates, are expected to grow both numbers. See AI Citations Strategy for broader context.

## Development Status

| Status | Detail |
|--------|--------|
| Phase | 3 of 3 in current dev roadmap |
| Prerequisite | Phase 1 (location pages) and Phase 2 (service page FAQs) must ship first |
| Copy | Initial drafts reviewed by Sebastian and Gina |
| Build | Not yet started as of 2026-02-24 |
| Timeline | Several weeks out; follows ~2 weeks of Phase 1 + 2 work |

## Relationship to Broader Dev Roadmap

This is the third phase in a sequential content build-out:

1. **Phase 1 — Location Pages (Dane County):** ~10 pages targeting local towns; copy deploy imminent (1–2 days). See AHS Location Pages.
2. **Phase 2 — Service Page FAQs:** Expanding thin service pages with structured FAQs for AI citation capture.
3. **Phase 3 — Contractor Pages:** *(this initiative)*

## Key Contacts

- **Sebastian Gant** — leading copy and strategy
- **Gina Richardson** (AHS) — reviewed initial drafts, aligned on direction
- **Brady** (AHS) — involved in service page copy; likely touchpoint for contractor content accuracy
