# ROC Bean Varieties & Inventory

Asymmetric (via Doodla Farms) offers a range of **ROC Tested Clean** certified bean varieties, as well as organic non-ROC beans at more competitive pricing. This inventory is relevant to any BeanVivo or co-packer procurement discussions.

## ROC Tested Clean Varieties

The following varieties are available as ROC certified:

| Variety | Notes |
|---|---|
| **Black Beans** | Primary variety in initial BeanVivo order; large harvest on hand |
| **Pinto Beans** | Versatile; suitable for charro beans, chili mixes |
| **Dark Red Kidney Beans** | — |
| **Small Red Beans** | Noted as "really nice"; pairs well with pintos in chili mixes |
| **Canary Beans** | Yellow; described as somewhat obscure |
| **Navy Beans** | — |
| **Canola Beans** | Distinct species; visually similar to cannellini beans |
| **Cranberry Beans** | Speckled red; visually similar to pintos |

> **Source:** Mark Hope enumerated these varieties during the BeanVivo × Asymmetric procurement meeting.

## Organic Non-ROC Varieties

Asymmetric also carries **organic beans that are not ROC certified**, available at a better price point than the ROC line. These are suitable for BeanVivo products where ROC certification is not required.

> "We also have some organic but not ROC, and we can give you a better price." — Mark Hope

## Pricing & Margin Context

- **ROC Black Beans:** $1.10/lb (firm)
- **COGS (grow, ship, clean, package):** ~$1.00/lb
- **Margin:** ~$0.10/lb — price is not negotiable downward
- **Non-ROC organic:** Better pricing available; discuss directly with Mark Hope

See pricing details for full context.

## Availability & Lead Times

- Inventory is **cleaned and warehoused**; no significant lead time required
- Black beans confirmed as ample following a large harvest (exact count to be confirmed by Mark Hope)
- Orders can be scheduled for pickup on demand — no 30–60 day lead time needed

## Initial Order (BeanVivo / Valley Food System)

- **Buyer:** Valley Food System (VFS), BeanVivo's co-packer
- **Contact at VFS:** Justin (Procurement)
- **Quantity:** ~60,000 lbs ROC Black Beans (potentially up to 80,000 lbs)
- **Production run target:** Week of March 16
- **Order placement deadline:** Early March

See BeanVivo client page for full relationship context and meeting notes for action items.

## Potential Expansion

BeanVivo expressed interest in expanding beyond black beans to other ROC varieties (pinto, small red, etc.) for additional product lines — including charro beans and specialty SKUs — pending quality validation of the initial black bean run. Varieties are also being considered for pitches to Sprouts and Whole Foods.

## Open Items
