# Paul — HubSpot Automation Expert Training Plan

## Overview

Paul has been designated as Asymmetric's in-house HubSpot automation expert. The goal is to develop deep, certified expertise in HubSpot Workflows so the team has a reliable internal resource for building and maintaining automations across client accounts — rather than relying on shared logins or ad hoc knowledge.

This initiative was decided during the [[meetings/2025-12-08-monday-call-melissa|2025-12-08 Monday Call with Melissa]], where Mark and Melissa identified a gap in automation capability and agreed Paul was the right fit given his prior Go High Level certifications and expressed interest in expanding his technical skills.

---

## Access Setup

- Paul has been **invited to the Asymmetric HubSpot account** by Mark.
- Confirm Paul accepted the invite before assigning any live automation work.
- Do not share login credentials via LastPass as a long-term solution — Paul should operate under his own seat.

---

## Training Plan

### Phase 1 — HubSpot Academy (Self-Directed)

Paul should begin immediately with HubSpot Academy, accessible from within the HubSpot account:

> **HubSpot account → click your name/agency → HubSpot Academy**

**Priority course searches:**
- `"Workflows"` — start here; covers foundational automation logic
- `"Automation"` — broader context for how automations fit into HubSpot strategy

Recommended starting courses (search within Academy):
- *Understanding Workflows in HubSpot*
- *Using Workflows to Power Your Strategy*
- *Using Workflows in Your Sales Process*
- *Organizing and Streamlining Workflows*

**Approach:** Start at the beginning to understand how workflows function, then progress toward use-case-driven courses. The goal is not just familiarity — Paul should pursue **HubSpot certification** in automation/workflows.

### Phase 2 — Hands-On Practice

Once Paul completes foundational courses:
- Assign him to a low-risk automation task within the Asymmetric account or a client account with supervision.
- [[clients/bluepoint/_index|Bluepoint]] has upcoming automation needs and may serve as a good first real-world project.

### Phase 3 — Team Knowledge Sharing

Once certified, Paul should be the go-to resource when AMs have HubSpot automation questions. Consider a brief internal demo or documentation of common workflow patterns.

---

## Broader HubSpot Training Context

Separately from Paul's deep-dive, all Account Managers should complete a **HubSpot 101 orientation** — a ~1-hour introductory course covering navigation, tabs, and core features. Melissa will poll AMs on their current HubSpot knowledge gaps and schedule accordingly.

## Notes

- Paul has prior experience with Go High Level certifications, which provides relevant automation context even if the platforms differ.
- HubSpot Academy certifications are portable — they benefit Paul's career development regardless of his tenure at Asymmetric, which is an intentional retention and motivation consideration.
- Raphael has HubSpot familiarity (email builds, etc.) but does not have automation/workflow depth — Paul fills a distinct gap.
