# Overhead Door — Dane County Location Pages Strategy

## Overview

As part of the 2026 SEO push for [[wiki/clients/overhead-door-madison/_index|Overhead Door Madison]], ten Dane County municipalities were approved for dedicated, SEO-focused location pages. The pages will be built on a staging site for client review before going live.

This initiative was discussed and approved during the [[wiki/meetings/2025-12-17-overhead-door-marketing-review|December 2025 marketing review]].

---

## Rationale

Overhead Door Madison serves the broader Dane County area, including communities outside Madison proper. Dedicated location pages allow the site to:

- Capture search volume from residents in surrounding municipalities who may search by their own city name rather than "Madison"
- Establish topical relevance and geographic authority across the service area
- Provide organic landing destinations that complement existing PPC campaigns (which are also migrating to the main site)

Jeff Ryan confirmed that the business does operate in all listed areas, noting that even lower-volume markets like Janesville are worth covering since customers near those areas may still be within the service radius.

---

## Approved Municipalities

The 10 approved Dane County locations represent the highest-volume municipalities in the service area. The specific list was reviewed and confirmed by Jeff Ryan and John Gradel during the December 2025 meeting. Janesville was included despite being on the edge of the service area, on the basis that nearby residents may search locally and still convert.

> *"Those are the main ones… we don't do too much in [some areas], but we can have it up there."*

## Build & Review Process

1. **Staging build** — Pages are constructed on the staging site (a non-live draft environment) so the client can review layout, copy, and accuracy before deployment.
2. **Client review meeting** — Jeff and John will be invited to a dedicated review session to walk through the staged pages and provide feedback.
3. **Live deployment** — Pages go live on the main site after client sign-off.

This process mirrors standard Asymmetric practice for bulk page builds and ensures no unreviewed content reaches the live site.

---

## SEO Approach

Location pages should follow the same on-page optimization principles that drove the "garage doors, Madison" ranking jump (from unranked to #2):

- Locally relevant copy tailored to each municipality
- Optimized image naming and alt text
- Clear service descriptions with location-specific signals
- Internal linking to relevant product/service pages and the main Madison hub page

FAQ sections are planned as a future addition to location pages once the initial batch is live, consistent with the broader on-page FAQ initiative underway for the main site.
