# FinWellU Launch Strategy — Phase 1 & Phase 2

## Overview

The FinWellU website launch uses a two-phase approach to avoid disrupting existing seminar registrations on the legacy domain (`FinancialWellnessDoneRight.com`) while establishing the new `FinWellU.com` as the primary platform. The strategy was finalized during the [[clients/nlpwm/_index|NLPWM]] pre-launch review meeting.

## Phase 1 — Siloed Launch

**Goal:** Get `FinWellU.com` live without breaking existing registrant workflows on the old site.

- `FinWellU.com` launches as a **fully standalone silo** — no cross-links to or from `FinancialWellnessDoneRight.com`.
- `FinancialWellnessDoneRight.com` **remains active** and continues to serve existing seminar registrations already in the system.
- All **new events and new traffic** are directed exclusively to `FinWellU.com`.
- A public-facing announcement will accompany the launch, notifying users of the platform change and new registration process (username/password based).
- Cross-links from `FinancialWellnessDoneRight.com` pointing to FinWellU pages (e.g., RetireU, UThrive) should be **removed** to prevent user confusion between the two navigation structures.

> **Rationale:** Users navigating from the old site to the new site mid-flow could encounter inconsistent event listings and registration UX, creating confusion. Keeping the sites siloed eliminates this risk during the transition window.

## Phase 2 — Full Redirect

**Trigger:** All seminars currently registered on `FinancialWellnessDoneRight.com` have concluded.

- `FinancialWellnessDoneRight.com` is **redirected entirely** to `FinWellU.com`.
- No content migration is required — the redirect is domain-level.
- Timeline is event-driven, not date-driven; estimated within a month or two of Phase 1 launch depending on the existing seminar schedule.

## Related Decisions

### No Floating Register Button
The team considered adding a floating "Register" button sitewide but decided against it due to responsiveness concerns — a floating element can obscure page content on mobile. The existing sticky header navigation remains as-is.

### New Events Go to FinWellU Immediately
Any seminar or event scheduled after the Phase 1 launch date will be created and registered through `FinWellU.com` only. Existing company pages for the top 10 partner companies have already been created on the new platform.

### Salesforce Integration — Phase 2 Scope

## Maintenance Contract

A hybrid maintenance contract will govern ongoing work post-launch:

- **Flat monthly fee** — covers routine edits and maintenance at a predictable baseline rate.
- **Per-page rate** — applied on top of the flat fee for new company portal builds, which are expected to spike in volume as new employer clients onboard.

This structure accommodates the uneven demand curve: heavier in the first two months post-launch, lighter mid-year, then likely spiking again when the platform rolls out through the GBA system.
