# Shine Website — Status & Foundational Build

## Overview

As of December 2025, the Shine website project is on pause pending client availability. Katie Geiser (owner of both Shine and [[wiki/clients/a-new-dawn-therapy/_index|A New Dawn Therapy]]) is focused on A New Dawn Therapy and personal commitments (home renovation), with limited bandwidth for Shine. Despite the pause on active traffic generation, AAG is using this window to build foundational site elements so the site is ready when Katie is.

## Current Status

**Paused — foundational build in progress.**

- No active SEO content production or traffic generation for Shine at this time
- Katie is less particular about Shine's design than A New Dawn Therapy's, giving AAG more latitude
- Work will resume in earnest once Katie has more availability, likely aligned with the A New Dawn Therapy retainer transition in 2026

## Foundational Work Being Completed

Even while paused, AAG is building infrastructure that will be needed when Shine becomes active:

### Blog Section
- Shine does not currently have a blog section
- AAG will build the blog section structure so it is ready for ongoing SEO content
- A small initial batch of posts may be written to populate the section, but regular content production is deferred to the retainer phase
- Blog content is the primary vehicle for ongoing SEO keyword ranking

### Location Page Template & Standardization
- Shine has both Madison area and Milwaukee area location pages
- The Milwaukee template is considered the stronger of the two; AAG will use it as the base
- AAG will standardize the Madison area pages to match the Milwaukee template
- A reusable location page template will be built for future city/municipality pages (e.g., "Verona therapist," "Sun Prairie therapist")
- Location pages will be linked from a non-obtrusive navigation dropdown (e.g., "Madison area") rather than a prominent top-level menu item, to avoid cluttering navigation with dozens of municipality links

### PPC Landing Page (Deferred)
- A dedicated PPC landing page is planned as a best practice for future Google Ads campaigns
- This is on hold until Shine is ready to generate leads

## Key Decisions

| Decision | Detail |
|---|---|
| Project paused | No active traffic generation until Katie's availability increases |
| Template standardization | Milwaukee template used as base for Madison area pages |
| Blog section | Will be built now; content production deferred to retainer |
| Location pages | Template-based approach; linked via subtle nav dropdown |
| Design latitude | Katie is less particular about Shine; AAG has more flexibility |

- [ ] Build reusable location page template for municipality pages (@Sebastian Gant)

## Relationship to Broader Project

The Shine pause is intentional and strategically aligned:

- A New Dawn Therapy is the priority — getting that site lead-gen-ready is the immediate focus
- Once A New Dawn Therapy is generating leads and Katie has hired additional therapists, she expects to have more time and financial capacity for Shine
- The hosting, retainer, and Shine reactivation are expected to align naturally in mid-2026
