Landing Page Urgency & AI Analysis — 2025-10-08
Overview
During a check-in call on October 8, 2025, Mark Hope flagged a critical issue with Citrus America's Google Ads performance: the current homepage being used as the ad landing page is severely undermining conversion rates. The problem was surfaced and validated using an AI-powered (ChatGPT) analysis of the landing page URL, which returned uniformly negative feedback. This has been a known issue for some time, but the AI analysis added urgency and concrete evidence.

Key Finding: AI Landing Page Analysis
Mark used ChatGPT to evaluate client landing pages by passing in URLs directly. The results were stark:
- Citrus America homepage — received all red X's; described as "terrible." ChatGPT's assessment: high impressions and clicks, but near-zero conversions because the landing page fails on every key quality dimension.
- Bluepoint landing page — received all green checks; described as "excellent" and "performing amazing."
"You can say to ChatGPT, look at this URL and tell me about the landing page quality, and it just immediately pukes. It says it's terrible, it's all red X's." — Mark Hope
This method provides a fast, repeatable way to audit landing page quality across client accounts. See [3] for the general technique.
The Problem
- Citrus America's Google Ads are sending traffic to the main homepage, not a dedicated landing page.
- The homepage is not optimized for conversion: poor message match, no clear CTA alignment with ad copy, likely slow or cluttered.
- The campaign is generating impressions and clicks but no conversions — meaning ad spend is being wasted.
- This issue has been raised internally before; client-side friction (getting approval/cooperation from Brian) has blocked resolution for months.
Available Resources to Build a Landing Page
Two existing assets can be leveraged to accelerate landing page creation:
- Partially built competitor landing page — already in progress, can be revived.
- Recently completed dealer page — described as "really sharp"; could be repurposed as a template.
Ben also reviewed the Citrus America homepage and provided feedback consistent with prior internal discussions — that feedback should be incorporated into the new page.
Action Items
- [ ] Melissa — Revive/create Citrus America landing page. Incorporate Ben's feedback. Use dealer page as potential template.
- [ ] Melissa — Follow up with Brian (Citrus America contact) about homepage improvements; hasn't been contacted on this in a few months.
Context & Blockers
- Citrus America is described as a difficult client to get cooperation from on website changes.
- Melissa noted repeated follow-ups to Brian have gone nowhere: "How many times can I say, hey Brian, can you look at this?"
- Mark's position: the landing page must be addressed regardless — build it and push it through. "We need a Citrus America landing page, even if we have to make it up and do it ourselves."
- A Citrus HubSpot call is also upcoming; Melissa to send Mark task details and Miriam discussion points via IM beforehand.
