Google Business Profile Access Issue — JBF Concrete
Overview
JBF Concrete Landscape cannot access or manage their Google Business Profile (GBP). The root cause is that the account on file (jbfconcretelandscape@gmail.com) is a standard Gmail account — not a Google Workspace account — and therefore lacks the admin interface required to manage a GBP.
This issue surfaced during the [1] and was flagged by Lisa (client contact) via email.
Problem Details
- Account in use:
jbfconcretelandscape@gmail.com (standard Gmail)
- What's missing: Google Workspace admin access — required to manage a Google Business Profile
- Symptom: Client cannot make updates to their GBP listing
- Secondary issue: There may be a separate Google Workspace account that was set up previously (possibly under Lisa's personal email), but access to that account is also lost
Lisa is familiar with GBP management — she successfully manages a GBP for a separate business (LaMarie) — so the assumption is that a GBP was set up at some point, but the admin credentials are no longer accessible.
Proposed Solution
- Create a new Google Workspace account tied to the
jbfconcretelandscape.com domain
- Cost: ~$4.90–$10/month depending on tier
- Mark to set up, using himself as the initial admin user (same process used for a prior client)
- Set up email forwarding from
jbfconcretelandscape@gmail.com → joe@jbfconcretelandscape.com
- Forward a copy only (original Gmail inbox remains intact)
- Joe receives mail in both places during transition
- Once Workspace is active, Joe can use the admin console to claim or recover the GBP
Longer term
- Client works to recover the original GBP (if one exists under a different admin account)
- Consolidate all email to the Workspace account
- Deprecate the Gmail account once transition is stable
Blockers
- Credit card required to provision the new Google Workspace account — needs to come from client (Joe or Lisa)
- Client must be on a call to complete the forwarding confirmation step (Gmail sends a verification to the destination address)
