CallRail is a call tracking and analytics platform that bridges the gap between phone calls and digital marketing attribution. It is recommended for any client where inbound phone calls are a meaningful conversion event.
When a prospect fills out a web form, you can trace their full journey: keyword → ad → landing page → conversion. When they pick up the phone instead, that chain breaks. CallRail patches that gap by assigning trackable phone numbers to sources, so every inbound call carries the same attribution data as a form fill.
A JavaScript snippet on the website swaps the displayed phone number based on how the visitor arrived. A visitor from a Google Ads click sees a different number than one from organic search or a direct visit. When they call, CallRail maps the call back to the originating source, campaign, and keyword.
Dedicated numbers can be assigned to offline channels — billboards, print ads, direct mail, trade show materials — giving each channel its own trackable line. Calls are forwarded transparently to the real destination number; callers experience no difference.
Every call through CallRail can be recorded automatically. Recordings are stored in a central dashboard alongside call metadata (duration, source, caller ID, time of day).
CallRail's AI analyzes call transcripts and classifies calls by type — e.g., sales inquiry, customer complaint, service request. This allows teams to quickly understand call volume by category without listening to every recording.
The dashboard surfaces a full call log with source attribution per call. Teams running multiple campaigns can see exactly which campaigns, ads, and keywords are generating phone leads — not just aggregate call volume.
Calls can be routed conditionally based on rules (e.g., complaints to one team, sales inquiries to another). Standard IVR/phone tree configuration is supported.
CallRail integrates natively with HubSpot. Calls are logged as activity on contact records, and call data (source, recording, transcript summary) can flow into HubSpot properties. This makes phone calls first-class citizens in the CRM alongside emails, meetings, and form submissions.
Under $100/month covers a substantial number of phone numbers and full feature access. Exact pricing scales with number of tracked numbers and call volume. Multiple client deployments have run comfortably under this threshold.
Recommended to [1] during a HubSpot training session. BluePoint had specific interest in:
- Recording inbound calls from ATM machine stickers (primarily complaint calls)
- Assigning state-specific area code numbers to state landing pages
- Routing complaint calls separately from sales inquiries
The Fathom integration (for video call recording) was already in place; CallRail addresses the parallel need for inbound phone call tracking.
