American Extractions Stick Pack Campaign Setup Issues

Overview

The American Extractions Stick Pack Google Ads campaign ran for over a week with zero impressions, zero clicks, and zero activity despite having a budget, keywords, and an ad in place. Root cause analysis during the 2025-09-30 ad review call pointed to an account permissions problem: the campaign was housed in a third-party manager account (Get Found Madison) where Asymmetric had no recognized user or manager status, causing all created assets to remain in draft mode silently.

This article documents the diagnosis, the contributing factors, and the recommended resolution path.

Symptoms

Root Cause: Account Permissions

The American Extractions Google Ads account (ID: 954-9545) was created under the Get Found Madison manager account, not under Asymmetric's manager account (ID: 8152). Because Asymmetric was not listed as a manager or in the allowed domains for that account:

"I think what's happening is that everything is like in draft mode because we're not even a user." — Mark Hope

Contributing Factors

Landing Page Confusion

The Stick Pack landing page existed at americanextractions.com/stick-pack but was not easily discoverable in the CMS. It was built in an earlier phase (possibly by a former team member) and was not linked from the main site navigation. The page itself was identified as low quality and in need of a rebuild — not in Go High Level, but directly on the website.

Dynamic Keyword Insertion in Ad

The existing responsive search ad used dynamic keyword insertion (DKI). Mark suggested creating a simpler, non-DKI search ad as a parallel test to rule out ad format as a contributing factor.

Bid Strategy Not Optimized

Campaign settings were updated during the call:
- Conversion goals changed from Account Default → Campaign Specific (Submit Lead Forms + Phone Calls)
- Bid strategy changed to Maximize Clicks with a $2 max CPC cap

Resolution Path

Immediate Actions

  1. Get Caitlin (client contact) to add Asymmetric as a manager and add asymmetric.pro as an allowed domain on the existing account. This is the fastest path to unblocking the campaign.
  2. Create a simple, non-DKI search ad as a parallel test alongside the existing responsive ad.
  3. Monitor for impressions by end of day — if still zero, open a Google Ads support case.

Longer-Term: Account Migration

If the permissions issue cannot be resolved quickly, the recommended path is to:
1. Create a new Google Ads account under the Asymmetric manager account (account 8152)
2. Rebuild campaigns from scratch in the new account
3. Obtain a credit card from the client for billing setup

Gilbert was assigned to create the new account in Asymmetric Account Manager when ready to proceed.

Landing Page Rebuild

The existing Stick Pack landing page needs to be rebuilt. Key requirements:
- Build on the main website (not Go High Level)
- Assign to Carly + Ben for execution
- Reference: americanextractions.com/stick-pack

Key Lesson

When onboarding a client with a pre-existing Google Ads account, verify that Asymmetric is listed as a manager and that the domain is in the allowed list before creating any campaigns. Assets created without proper access may silently save as drafts with no warning from Google.
