Blue Sky Capital — GA & GSC Setup
Overview
During a call with Sophak So (Blue Sky Capital), Mark Hope walked through granting access to and navigating Google Analytics (GA) and Google Search Console (GSC). Sophak's goal was to find website metrics — traffic sources, conversions, and search performance — without relying on the WordPress backend.

Access Requirements
- A Gmail address is required to receive and accept a Google Analytics invitation. A non-Gmail address linked to a Google account also works, but must be Google-connected.
- Access to both GA and GSC is granted by the account administrator (Mark Hope) via email invitation.
- WordPress backend access was also provisioned (username = email address; temporary password sent via email), but GA is the recommended interface for analytics review.
Google Analytics (GA)
What It Shows
GA tracks user behavior on the site: who visits, what they do, how long they stay, and which pages they land on.

Notes from Blue Sky's Account
- Traffic had recently spiked (from ~20–30 daily users to roughly double), though it was unclear at the time of the call whether this was a sustained trend.
- Conversions are low: Only 2 contact form submissions were visible in the Events report. Most activity is passive browsing with few clicks or form fills.
- Two-thirds of traffic is desktop; one-third mobile.
Google Search Console (GSC)
What It Shows
GSC reports on how the site performs in Google Search: which queries trigger impressions, how many clicks result, and which pages are indexed.

Key Terms
- Impression: The site's link appeared in a Google search result.
- Click: A user clicked the link from search results.
- Query: The exact text a user typed into Google that surfaced the site.
Notes from Blue Sky's Account
- Most queries returning impressions are branded (e.g., "Blue Sky Capital," "Blue Sky Capital Strategies").
- Non-branded keyword performance is weak — see [2] for root cause analysis.
- "Visual Lease" and "Visual Lease Login" appear as top traffic-driving queries, suggesting users are navigating to a partner/vendor tool through the Blue Sky site.
- Search appearance data shows no rich results or structured data enhancements.
