During a December 2025 website review, Sam (Flynn Audio) flagged that the Install/DIY selection — which asks customers whether they want professional installation or will install the product themselves — had moved from the checkout flow to individual product pages. Sam's preference is to keep this option at checkout.
At some point prior to the December 2025 meeting (likely during a backend update), the installation option was relocated from the WooCommerce checkout to each individual product page. This means customers are now prompted to choose installation preference on a per-product basis before adding to cart, rather than once at the end of the purchase flow.
Sam noted this change was unintentional from his perspective and flagged two problems with the new placement:
Sam's stated preference is to return the installation option to the checkout step, where it appears once for the entire order. This reduces friction and keeps the product page experience cleaner.
Karly (Asymmetric) acknowledged the UX concern and added restoring the install/DIY option to checkout to the task list. The cause was not definitively identified during the meeting but was attributed to recent backend development work across multiple client sites.
This issue was discussed alongside the missing "Add to Cart" button bug on product pages — both appear to stem from the same period of backend updates. See [1] for details on that related issue.
