BluePoint — CallRail Regional Number Strategy
Overview
BluePoint ATM's CallRail account is capped at 10 phone numbers. As of this meeting, 6 numbers are in use, leaving 4 available. Rather than purchasing a per-state number for each of the 50 state pages being built, the team agreed to group states into regional buckets and assign one CallRail number per region.
This decision was made in the context of the active New York Google Ads campaign, which requires its own dedicated number for accurate attribution.
Current Number Inventory
| Slot | Assignment |
|---|---|
| 1 | Main / 1-800 number (website footer) |
| 2 | Eastern office number (website footer) |
| 3 | Western office number (website footer) |
| 4 | Dynamic swap number (home page hero section) |
| 5 | Google Ads campaign #1 |
| 6 | New York campaign (dedicated) |
| 7–10 | Available — 4 remaining |
Strategy Decision
Use the 4 remaining numbers to create regional groupings for the state pages being built. Candidate regions discussed:
- Midwest
- West
- Atlantic / Northeast (excluding NY)
- One additional region TBD
The exact regional boundaries were not finalized in this meeting and should be confirmed before CallRail numbers are provisioned.
Key Constraint: New York Number Must Stay Dedicated
The existing New York CallRail number must not be shared with other states while the NY Google Ads campaign is active. Mixing other states onto that number would corrupt call attribution for the campaign and make it impossible to measure NY-specific performance.
"I don't think we want to attach other states to it right now. Maybe after that campaign is kind of wrapped up, just because we want to be able to see what calls are coming from the specific ads that we've got running for those."
— Karly Oykhman
After the NY campaign concludes, the NY number could potentially be repurposed as the Atlantic regional number, freeing a slot.
Rationale for Regional Grouping
- Upgrading CallRail to support 50 individual state numbers would be a significant cost increase and is not warranted at this stage.
- Regional numbers still provide geographic signal for call routing and reporting.
- State pages will display the regional number appropriate to their geography; the NY page retains its dedicated number.
Action Items
- [ ] Assign CallRail numbers for the top 10 state pages; do not reuse the NY number for other states (@Karly Oykhman)
- [ ] Define final regional groupings (e.g., Midwest, West, Atlantic) and map each of the first 10 states to a region (@Karly Oykhman)
