Photo Retouching & Website Asset Finalization
Overview
When a photo retouching batch is complete, a final review pass with the client is essential before deploying assets to the website. Minor revisions — easily overlooked during production — become visible only when the client sees the images in context. Bundling photo deployment with other pending website updates (pricing, messaging) reduces churn and ensures a single, clean release.
This pattern emerged during Adava Care's November 2025 marketing review, where retouched photos were ready but required a targeted revision round before going live.
Key Principles
1. Client Review Surfaces Detail-Level Revisions
Even when retouching is declared "complete," a live walkthrough with the client will surface small but meaningful edits — environmental elements (leaves, debris), wall marks, or artifacts that the retoucher deprioritized. Budget time for one revision round after client sign-off review.
2. Batch Website Updates Together
Avoid deploying assets piecemeal. When photos are pending approval, hold related updates — pricing changes, messaging revisions, phone number corrections — and release everything in a single coordinated push. This reduces developer back-and-forth and keeps the site consistent throughout.
3. Clarify Retouching Scope Upfront
Retouchers will default to brightness/color correction unless explicitly instructed otherwise. If object removal (leaves, marks, signage artifacts) is desired, specify this in the brief. AI-assisted tools handle object removal more efficiently than manual Photoshop work; confirm the retoucher's toolchain before scoping the job.
Adava Care Example (November 2025)
Status at time of meeting: All retouching complete; pending minor client-requested revisions.
Revisions requested:
- Remove fallen leaves from exterior shots (particularly Magnolia location)
- Clean up a visible strip/mark on an interior wall (likely wheelchair bumper rail or former border)
Deployment plan:
- Melissa to send revision notes to retoucher by EOD November 19
- Full completion expected by end of that week
- Photos, pricing updates, and "private pay" messaging for Nina, Irish Road, Pewaukee, and Heartland to be deployed together in one website update pass
Tooling note: Retoucher was using Photoshop; leaf removal may be more efficient via AI tools. Melissa flagged this for follow-up with the retoucher.
Related collateral: Folder inserts (printed materials) were confirmed complete and well-received by the client team.
Action Items (from this meeting)
| Owner | Task | Due |
|---|---|---|
| Melissa | Send photo revision notes to retoucher | EOD 2025-11-19 |
| Melissa / Dev | Deploy photos + pricing + private pay messaging together | After photo approval |
