ROC Bean Varieties & Inventory
Asymmetric (via [1]) offers a range of ROC Tested Clean certified bean varieties, as well as organic non-ROC beans at more competitive pricing. This inventory is relevant to any BeanVivo or co-packer procurement discussions.
ROC Tested Clean Varieties
The following varieties are available as ROC certified:
| Variety | Notes |
|---|---|
| Black Beans | Primary variety in initial BeanVivo order; large harvest on hand |
| Pinto Beans | Versatile; suitable for charro beans, chili mixes |
| Dark Red Kidney Beans | — |
| Small Red Beans | Noted as "really nice"; pairs well with pintos in chili mixes |
| Canary Beans | Yellow; described as somewhat obscure |
| Navy Beans | — |
| Canola Beans | Distinct species; visually similar to cannellini beans |
| Cranberry Beans | Speckled red; visually similar to pintos |

Organic Non-ROC Varieties
Asymmetric also carries organic beans that are not ROC certified, available at a better price point than the ROC line. These are suitable for BeanVivo products where ROC certification is not required.
"We also have some organic but not ROC, and we can give you a better price." — Mark Hope
Pricing & Margin Context
- ROC Black Beans: $1.10/lb (firm)
- COGS (grow, ship, clean, package): ~$1.00/lb

Potential Expansion

Varieties are also being considered for pitches to Sprouts and Whole Foods.
