Old World Popcorn Shopping Campaign Setup — 2025-12-10

Overview

During the [1], Gilbert attempted to create a Google Shopping campaign for Old World Popcorn products. The effort was blocked because Old World Popcorn has no linked Google Merchant Center — only the Doodla Farms GMC account exists, and its product feed is scoped to DoodlaFarms.com. Mark investigated options and submitted a request to Google for a GMC Advanced Account, which would unlock sub-account functionality and allow Old World Popcorn to be managed as a separate entity under the same umbrella.

Current status: GMC Advanced Account review in progress.

Problem

Gilbert could not add Old World Popcorn products when building a new Shopping campaign in Google Ads. When selecting a Merchant Center during campaign setup, only the Doodla Farms account appeared. Old World Popcorn products are sold under a separate brand and website, so they are not present in the Doodla Farms feed.

"I don't see any Merchant Center for Old World, so I only see the Doodla Farms, so I cannot add the products of Old World here." — Gilbert

Investigation

Mark walked through the Doodla Farms GMC account to understand the feed structure:

GMC Product Approval Issues (noted in passing)

While reviewing the Doodla Farms GMC, Mark flagged several disapproved products worth investigating separately:

Product Status Action
Organic Dried Beans (1.5 lb) Not approved Investigate — see action item
25 lb bags (popcorn, cornmeal) Not approved Low priority; bulk SKUs not targeted
Personalized gift note Not approved Expected; not a shoppable product

See action item: Investigate Doodla Farms GMC disapprovals for 1.5 lb organic dried beans.

Solution: GMC Advanced Account

To host Old World Popcorn products without creating a fully separate, unrelated GMC account, Mark requested an Advanced Account upgrade on the existing Doodla Farms GMC.

What this enables:
- Sub-accounts under a single GMC parent
- Old World Popcorn can be set up as its own sub-account with its own product feed
- Keeps both brands manageable within the same Google Business Manager structure

How to request:
1. In GMC, go to Settings → General
2. Under Account Setup, select Advanced Account Setup
3. Submit the conversion request (business type, contact info)

Status as of 2025-12-10: "Review in progress. You'll receive an email when your request is reviewed and completed."
