Moz Local → Bright Local Migration
Overview
Asymmetric is migrating all clients from Moz Local to Bright Local for local SEO citation management. The decision to cancel Moz was made by leadership (Mark); AMs are responsible for ensuring their individual clients are successfully onboarded to the new platform.
This migration surfaced during the [1] as part of the broader task re-allocation following team changes.
Why the Switch
Moz Local was flagged as expensive relative to its value, particularly given that it operates as an ongoing subscription rather than a one-time audit tool. Bright Local was selected as the replacement. Full details on the new platform are expected to be communicated by Mark to the team.
Migration Status
As of 2026-01-08, the migration is in progress. Key notes:
- Moz Local has been cancelled — any client data or listings previously managed there are no longer accessible through that platform.
- AMs must verify their clients are enrolled and active in Bright Local.
- Clients who had already been processed through Moz Local (e.g., an initial citation scan and standardization pass) should be re-checked on the new platform to confirm listing consistency is maintained.
Known Client Cases
| Client | Moz Local Status | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Cordwainer | Completed initial scan | Yesh provided address; listings standardized at least once. Re-verify in Bright Local. |
Note: The Cordwainer entry was managed by Yesh (now departed). The responsible AM should confirm the migration is complete on Bright Local.
AM Responsibilities
Each Account Manager is responsible for:
- Auditing their client list — identify any clients that were previously enrolled in Moz Local.
- Verifying Bright Local enrollment — confirm each client has been added to the new platform.
- Running a citation check — use Bright Local to re-scan listings and confirm consistency, especially for clients who only received a single pass in Moz Local.
This work was previously owned by Yesh (SEO specialist). Following his departure, SEO task ownership has been redistributed to AMs. See [2] for broader context.
Platform Notes
- Moz Local: Subscription-based citation management. Performs an initial scan to standardize NAP (Name, Address, Phone) data across directories. Now cancelled.
- Bright Local: Replacement platform. Functionally similar for citation tracking and local SEO auditing. Team onboarding details pending from Mark.
