Day-in-the-Life Video Structure

Overview

The Day-in-the-Life video is a planned component of the [1] SOAR course video package. Unlike the [2], this piece focuses on frontline sales roles — specifically SDRs and BDRs — to give new hires a realistic view of the day-to-day sales experience.

Due to time constraints at SKO, the video will be recorded virtually post-SKO rather than on-site.

Purpose

Talent

Featured roles: SDRs and BDRs (not senior leadership)

This is a deliberate distinction from the leadership video series. The Day-in-the-Life format is most effective when it features peers rather than executives, making it more credible and approachable for new hire audiences.

Production Approach

Attribute Detail
Format Virtual recording (remote participants)
Timing Post-SKO
Reason for deferral Insufficient time to coordinate and record during SKO event
Structure doc Asymmetric to provide structural guide to client

Structure Guidance

Note: A formal structure guide is being prepared by Asymmetric and will be shared with Gus Donelson. The following reflects the intended scope discussed in the 2025-12-30 review call.

The video should follow a loose narrative arc showing a representative workday. Suggested structural elements:

  1. Opening / Introduction — Who is this person, what is their role?
  2. Morning Routine — How do they start their day? (prospecting, pipeline review, team standup)
  3. Core Activities — Key tasks: outreach, calls, demos, follow-ups
  4. Tools & Resources — Brief mention of systems used (CRM, co-pilot, etc.)
  5. Challenges & Tips — Candid reflection on what's hard and what helps
  6. Closing / Encouragement — Message to new hires

Keep the tone conversational and authentic. Avoid over-scripting; bullet-point talking points work better than word-for-word scripts for this format.

Source Reference

Discussed during the [5] call with Gus Donelson. Isalia Ramirez confirmed she would send the structural guide after the call.

"The detail and stuff of the day in the life will be super helpful because that's not going to be this senior leadership. It's going to be like SDR, like a business development rep and stuff like that."
— Gus Donelson, 2025-12-30
