Yashwant — Technical Tracking Expert Training Plan
Overview
Yashwant has been identified as the team member best suited to fill the technical tracking skills gap left by Anoop's departure. He is technically inclined and works quickly, making GTM, conversion tracking, and attribution a better fit than content-heavy work like blog writing. The goal is to develop him into the in-house expert for all technical measurement work.
This was decided during the [1], where Mark and Melissa aligned on role specialization across the team.
Rationale
- Yashwant is technically capable but not a strong writer — keeping him out of content tasks and directing him toward technical work plays to his strengths.
- The agency currently lacks a dedicated person for GTM setup, conversion tracking, and attribution — work that was previously handled by Anoop.
- Yashwant has expressed interest in expanding his responsibilities and taking on more.
Training Focus Areas
| Area | Description |
|---|---|
| Google Tag Manager | Tag setup, trigger configuration, variable management |
| Conversion Tracking | Setting up and verifying conversion actions in Google Ads and GA4 |
| Attribution | Understanding attribution models and how to interpret multi-touch data |
Training Resources
- Coursera — Asymmetric has a subscription; search for GTM and analytics courses
- CXL — Asymmetric has a subscription; strong technical marketing courses
- Google's Free Courses — Google offers free GTM and measurement courses directly; technically rigorous, though not always the most digestible
"Google has courses on how to use Google Tag Manager. They're not always particularly digestible, but they're technically good and they're free." — Mark Hope
A certification may be available through Google's free course track as well.
