PaperTube Marketing Email Domain Setup
Overview
To protect PaperTube's primary domain sender reputation, all outbound marketing emails will be sent from a dedicated subdomain: papertube.pro. This isolates cold/marketing traffic from the main papertube.co domain, reducing the risk of deliverability degradation if marketing sends generate spam complaints or low engagement.
This setup was decided during the [1] and is a prerequisite for launching the Account Engagement email campaigns tied to the [2].
Configuration Decisions
| Setting | Value |
|---|---|
| Marketing domain | papertube.pro |
| Sender address | sam@papertube.pro |
| Reply routing | Auto-forward to Parag Agrawal (parag@papertube.co) |
| Sending platform | Salesforce Account Engagement (Pardot) |
| DNS records required | SPF (minimum); DKIM recommended |
Why sam@?
The name "Sam" was chosen deliberately — it is gender-neutral and does not correspond to any existing PaperTube employee's primary email address (the only Sam on staff uses samantha.a@papertube.co). This avoids confusion while keeping the sender name human and approachable.
Why a separate domain?
The leads being emailed are sourced from third-party data (not inbound opt-ins), making this effectively a cold outreach list. Sending cold campaigns from the primary papertube.co domain risks:
- Spam complaints degrading domain reputation
- Deliverability issues affecting transactional and relationship emails sent from the main domain
Using papertube.pro as a dedicated marketing domain contains any reputation impact.
Technical Setup Steps
Owned by Mark Hope (mark.hope@asymmetric.pro).
- Purchase domain — Register
papertube.provia preferred registrar. - Create mailbox / forwarding rule — Set up
sam@papertube.prowith no active inbox; configure auto-forward of all inbound replies toparag@papertube.co. - Configure DNS records — Add SPF record authorizing Salesforce Account Engagement mail servers to send on behalf of
papertube.pro. DKIM and DMARC records are also recommended for improved deliverability. - Add domain to Account Engagement — Register
papertube.proas a verified sending domain within the Salesforce Account Engagement instance. - Send test emails — Send internal test messages from
sam@papertube.pro, verify:
- Emails land in inbox (not spam)
- Reply-to routing forwards correctly to Parag
- Tracking pixels and links resolve properly
Do not send the first live batch until all tests pass.
Downstream Dependencies
This domain setup is a blocking dependency for:
- Account Engagement email campaigns — Emails cannot be built and sent until the verified sending domain is in place.
- Sales follow-up warm lead track — The multi-touch nurture sequence described in [3] will send from this domain.
- First email batch target — Approximately February 13, 2026 (one week after landing pages are finalized).
